This was a project we developed and were extremely proud of. It provided many computers to our tribal members through the refurbishment process. At this time we are not actively participating in the e-waste recycling but we hope to again in the future. This informations is left up to remind us of some of the things we have accomplished.
Electronic Waste RecyclingThe biggest concern companies have with electronic waste (e-waste) is the liability it poses once it leaves the company’s facility. The lead in computer monitors is considered hazardous waste; and stiff fines are imposed by the State for improper disposal of e-waste. At the Toyon-Wintu Recycling Project, all obsolete equipment is recycled and nothing goes to landfill. We are an authorized collector of electronic waste with the State of California under Senate Bill 20. E-waste includes but is not limited to computers, monitors, copiers, fax machines, printers, desktop and cell phones, as well as high-end networking and data storage equipment and electronic components. Because we are a non-profit organization, there is no fee associated with disposal of these items, and items with some residual value may receive a tax deductible donation receipt for fair market value. Proprietary DestructionCompanies with proprietary hardware and software may use our recycling project for assured destruction. Witness destruction is available to all customers. A certificate of destruction will be issued with every destruction event.Computer Grant RecyclingRecycled computers that can be repaired & reprogrammed will be wiped clean to assure data security and placed back into the community through our computer grant program for charitable organizations throughout ShastaCountyWe are a Microsoft Licensed Recycler and use only legally licensed software.
